Cardinal Health, a global leader in healthcare innovation, is seeking a Cloud Engineer to drive the evolution of our enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure. Operating in a multi-cloud, multi-tenant environment, our platform supports thousands of developers across hundreds of teams, powering mission-critical workloads in IaaS, PaaS, and CaaS models. As part of our Cloud Platform team, you’ll help design, orchestration, optimization, and governance of our serverless infrastructure, leveraging GitOps, infrastructure as code, and cloud-native practices to deliver secure, scalable, and cost-effective services. You will be part of a team of engineers, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and drive the adoption of serverless technologies to support business objectives. As a Cloud Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to design, deploy, and maintain containerized applications GKE (Google Kubernetes Service) platform. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure that applications and systems are scalable, reliable, and secure.

Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters and resources using infrastructure as Code and GitOps principles and practices.  
  • Build, troubleshoot, and optimize containerized workloads in GKE, ensuring performance, cost-efficiency, and high availability across multi-zonal/regional clusters.  
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and updates with Terraform, integrating with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Cloud Build, Jenkins, Concourse) and GitOps tools (e.g., ArgoCD, Flux).  
  • Implement security controls (e.g., Pod Security Admission, Secrets Management with GCP Secret Manager) and ensure compliance with HIPAA, SOX and other regulations.
  • Collaborate with DevSecOps/Application Security teams to integrate security into the SDLC, using tools like Aquasec or Trivy for container image scanning.    
  • Monitor cluster health and application performance using Dynatrace, Prometheus, and GCP Cloud Monitoring/Logging, performing root cause analysis for incidents.  
  • Participate in code reviews, establish coding standards, and ensure adherence to software development best practices within the team.  
  • Enforce platform governance using tools like Open Policy Agent (OPA), embedding observability and compliance into all solutions.    
  • Act as a technical liaison between the serverless platforms team and other organizations, translating business requirements into actionable technical solutions.   
  • Stay current with cloud-native technologies and trends, contributing to Cardinal Health’s cloud strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred. 
  • 3+ years of experience in cloud engineering focused on Kubernetes and GCP preferred.
  • Understanding of microservices, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.   
  • Strong communication skills to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in ambiguous or rapidly changing environments.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Anticipated salary range: $94,900 - $142,380
