Position Summary
The Design & Sequencing Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning and coordination of research projects at the IBHS Research Center, with a primary focus on design, sequencing, and resource optimization. This role manages the full lifecycle of project design and specimen preparation, ensuring accurate drafting, efficient sequencing, and strategic material planning to support research programs.
The Design & Sequencing Manager supervises one team member and works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure operational efficiency and timely delivery of projects. In addition, this role leads the development and management of dashboards for program and project tracking, providing clear visibility into organizational priorities and progress. The position requires both strategic planning in an office environment and active engagement on-site in and around the Research Center facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Drafting Oversight: Manage and review design and drafting work to ensure research buildings and test panels meet project specifications, quality standards, and testing requirements.
Material Planning: Oversee material forecasting and procurement planning to ensure timely availability of all components needed for research buildings and test panels .
Dashboard Development & Management: Create, maintain , and optimize dashboards that track program and project milestones, budgets, and performance metrics across the organization.
Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, construction, product development, and communications teams to maintain alignment on project priorities.
Sequencing & Scheduling: Lead the sequencing of project tasks to optimize workflow, reduce delays, and align resources effectively within the priorities coordinated across cross-functional teams .
Performance Monitoring: Implement systems for tracking project progress, costs, and resource utilization , delivering timely and accurate performance reports.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance scheduling, planning, and cost control processes, and implement best practices.
Team Leadership: Supervise and coach one direct report, providing guidance, performance feedback, and opportunities for professional growth.

Construction Experience : Needs to have construction experience in residential and/or commercial setting.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a similar field is required .
Experience: 2+ years in construction project management, research operations, or engineering, with direct exposure to design, drafting, sequencing, and material planning.
Supervision: Experience managing or mentoring team members preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD, PLC software, and design tools; experience with dashboard/reporting tools and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Wrike, Asana, Monday.com, Slack).
Preferred: PMP certification; MBA or similar advanced degree.
Other Requirements: Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities; capable of presenting complex information to diverse audiences.
Work Environment
This role involves both office-based work and on-site engagement in the Research Center facilities, including outdoor environments, to oversee design, sequencing, and project execution.
